Our infancy is key in our development because it is during this time that eating habits that might be hard to change later are developed. With the right eating habits and lifestyle, we contribute positively to the development and modelling of the future generation and an improvement in their health, physical and intellectual performance.
The right nutrition during infancy is key because a child’s body is still experiencing undergoing development, which incidentally means he/she is more vulnerable to problems derived from poor nutrition.
Healthy and balanced nutrition are important to the health and well being of children, and decisive in the correct functioning of their bodies. At the same time, it is also influential in the development of social skills and relationships.
To achieve this, is it important to take these 5 tips into account:
- Establish a regular schedule for family meals
- Provide a good variety of healthy food
- Lead by example – eat healthily
- Avoid quarrels over food
- Involve children in the process
This, of course, is not to say that following these points is always possible. Our busy lives are full of responsibilities, and quick, on the go junk food is always available. However, we need to keep a balanced act. For our kids – and ourselves too.
